You may have heard of the Brillante Weblog Award that's making the rounds of the blogosphere. Denise Clenney has graciously nominated my blog for this award. Denise is a talented painter and stained glass artist.

Before making nominations I decided to research this a bit. Apparently, it's a hoax. There is no award. This award is simply a viral blog promotion technique. You can read more about it here: Museum of Hoaxes.

It's not necessarily a bad thing that it's a hoax, in my opinion, but given that I'm still fairly new in the blogosphere I haven't really had much of a chance to build rapports with other bloggers. I do subscribe to quite a few blogs, but I admit I'm more of a lurker in most of them.

On the one hand, since I haven't built a big rapport with many bloggers yet I fear that if I "nominate" people I don't know that well for an "award" I risk alienating them if they're not interested in participating in this sort of thing. On the other hand this could also be fun. So, with that in mind, I'm going to go ahead and participate in this game.

Without further ado here are my "nominees":

1. Robin over at Cinnamon and Honey. Robin makes beautiful cards and is a music critic as well. She's also very funny.

2. I don't even know the name of the owner of Yes, Sir! Yes, Sir! - 3bagsfull (see, I told you I'm a real newb in the blogosphere LOL), but she has a lot of interesting info about running an online crafting biz.

3. Andrew at Andrew Thornton: The Writing and Art of Andrew Thornton. I discovered his blog only a few weeks ago, and I enjoy reading it very much. Andrew has a great aesthetic sensibility, and when he decides to cook he whips up the most delicious looking meals.

4. Shalana, owner of The Funky Felter's News and Tips makes some very informative posts about marketing and promoting your crafting biz, among other topics pertinent to running an indie biz.

5. Theresa's blog, named Crafting the Web, is a showcase for her work. But she doesn't just make look-at-what-I-made posts, she also explains how she creates something. If you like art you'll love her blog.

6. Breanna of World's Fair. Her blog is fairly new, but she has several interesting articles about running an indie crafting biz. She also takes beautiful photographs.

7. Abbey of Aesthetic Outburst. According to Abbey, her blog is about an art-obsessed gal living very happily in upstate NY. It's about art, artists, collecting, and design...all mixed in with daily musings on life in general. I think she has fantastic taste and I love the visual appeal of her blog.

8. Cara's blog, Craft Yourself Rich by Sew Bettie. If you like to sew you'll enjoy Cara's blog for the sewing tutorials. She has some good articles on the biz of crafting too.

Here are the rules for participating in this game:

1. Add the logo of the "award" to your blog;
2. Add a link to the blog of the person who "awarded" it to you to your blog list;
3. "Nominate" at least seven other blogs;
4. Add links to those blogs on your blog;
5. Leave a message for each of the "nominees" on his or her blog.

If any of you whom I've "nominated" decide to participate in this game, but don't wish to leave a reciprocal link to my blog in your blog roll, I'm totally cool with that.

Thanks a bunch! I really appreciate being nominated for the (fake) award. :P No, really, it is an honor. And a great way to share your favorite blogs with others. I posted my own awards today...
